Message from Council Member Hayes:
"I have had a close connection with the area that is now Pataskala's 4th Ward for as far back as I can remember. My father opened a small business in what is now Ward 4 back in 1978. I moved to the Ward when I was in middle school and spent most of my formable years here. I now work with my father (as well as my brother and six other great folks) in that same small business dad opened in 1978. Although the office has moved, it is still in Ward 4. My wife and I had the opportunity to move into the 4th Ward in 2004 and we jumped at the chance. We now raise our three kids on Main Street in the Old Village District of Pataskala.
I am passionate about Pataskala; the area's history; and most importantly, our community's potential. While I represent Ward 4, I fully understand that I serve the entire city. I believe one of Pataskala's biggest assets is also one of Pataskala's biggest challenges: community identity. Unlike most cities our size, Pataskala has formed from three separate downtown areas: 1. Pataskala Village, 2. Columbia Center, and 3. Summit Station. I firmly believe that the only way to successfully develop Pataskala into a thriving community is to acknowledge the differences in these areas; embrace those differences; and, promote the unique nature of each area to potential home buyers and businesses.
One thing is certain, it is impossible for me to please every resident when I cast a vote on City Council. That said, I cast each vote after careful consideration of what I believe to be in the best interest of the City. I welcome input from city residents, so please do not hesitate to contact me at 740-281-6917 or
