The winter months have arrived, which means it is time to review the snow removal and salting/grit application policies for the city roadways. Provided below is information about the Winter 2009/2010 snow removal policy and the list of streets that are designated to be plowed and salted.
The Street Department will plow and salt streets based on the snow removal policy, as esablished by City Council on December 7, 2009. To review, that policy outlines the procedures for snow removal as follows:
- Plow and salt ONLY major thru and arterial streets.
- No subdivisions (excluding those listed in Item A below) will be plowed and salted/gritted unless a Level 2 snow emergency is declared by the Licking County Sheriff.
- The roads that schools are addressed on (physical address listed on street) will be plowed and salted.
- The City Administrator is authorized to use his discretion in applying this policy in cases of extraordinary and unique weather events.
