If you would like to have a garage sale within the City's municipal boundaries, you are required, per the City's Codified Ordinance Chapter 717, to get a "Garage Sale Permit." Permits can be obtained Suite 1C on the first floor of the City's Municipal Building located at 621 West Broad Street from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The requirements, per Ordinance Chapter 7171, for obtaining an approved Garage Sale Permit are:
- No person shall receive, or make application for any permit premises , of more than two permits, issued in accordance with Section 717.02 in any one calendar year.
- No garage sale, as defined in Codified Ordinance Chapter 717.01, shall continue for more than three consecutive days or more than 72 consecutive hours.
- All advertising signs shall be limited as follows:
- One sign within the permitted premises
- Two signs erected other than on permit premises, none of which shall be more than twelve hours prior to the commencement of the sale; and all signs to be removed within twelve hours after the closing of the sale.
NO SIGNS MAY BE ERECTED WITHIN THE CITY OWNED RIGHT-OF-WAY OR ON ANY UTILITY POLES.
