Columbia Gas Riser Replacement Program
Columbia Gas of Ohio will upgrade the service line connection to gas meters of 1,500 customers in Pataskala. Columbia Gas will start replacing risers on August 2nd and estimates completion by September 15, 2010. The riser connects the gas meter to the service line.

Customers affected by this work have received letters notifying them that their riser needs to be replaced. Columbia Gas employees or contractor will need access to the customer's home or building to restore gas service once the work is complete. Gas service will be shut off while the work is being done. To restore service, workers must check for leaks and safe operation of all gas burning appliances.

In most cases, any digging that is necessary will be done by hand with a shovel. If there is any disturbance to the surrounding area, the customer's property will be restored as soon as is possible and as weather permits.

A few days in advance, a representative of Columbia Gas will leave a reminder notice at the customer's home or business. This will include a direct phone number to riser safety personnel performing the work. Company representatives will be in neighborhoods through the day and evening to restore service after the work is performed.

Company and contract employees carry Columbia Gas ID badges and will be happy to show them before entering a home to restore service.
