Barbara "Barb" Triplett is the Ward 2 City Council Member. Barb was appointed to Council in June 1997, and then elected in November 1997, following Pataskala's designation as a City. Her current term expires on December 31, 2011.
Barb's fellow Council members elected her to serve as President for 2008. In addition, Barb is Chairperson of the Utilities Committee and a member of the Development Committee and the Streets Committee.
Message from Ward 2 Council Member/Council President Triplett:
"I represent Pataskala Ward 2 (northwest quadrant of the city). However, I feel that all Council members should be attuned to the needs and interests of all the citizens of the City of Pataskala. Pataskala is a great place to live. Hopefully, it will be a place where people will also shop and work. We need to attract new businesses and industry to Pataskala to establish a strong economic base. It is important to relieve the individual taxpayers from the burden of paying for everything. Our infrastructure and schools will benefit from good economic development."
"This is a period of time in the life of our young city when difficult decisions must be made. We are laying the groundwork for future generations. We must develop ways to fund city services and provide the best services we can for the citizens. There will be times when these decisions will not be popular, nevertheless, if Council acts in the best interest of all citizens of Pataskala, great things are possible."
"My entire life has been spent in this community. My parents, Opal and Milton Blair, bought their 120 acre farm on Havens Corners Road in Pataskala in 1939. My family and I then built a home a few hundred feet from the home in which I grew up. My son Mike and his family lived in the original farmhouse of my parents for several years. I recently purchased a new home in the Brooksedge Subdivision. I enjoy having less home maintenance, sidewalks, and being in a friendly neighborhood. I believe strongly in community spirit and working together to make things happen for good of the community."
